Chams Boujrada

Founder, ILAJ treatment team
Wound healing is a complex yet crucial biological process. It typically undergoes a series of phases and can be prolonged under certain health conditions, increasing the risk of serious complications, including infection and amputation. Currently available conventional wound treatments often fail to address these challenges, resulting in prolonged healing times and inadequate tissue regeneration, especially in the case of diabetic ulcers, for example. Furthermore, many conventional dressings are uncomfortable and can exacerbate tissue damage upon removal. Therefore, our efforts at ILAJ aim to address these challenges by developing a treatment to enhance and accelerate wound healing that combines spider silk with frankincense essential oil. At this stage, the team has developed the mixture in an ointment form, and research and development is ongoing to develop other forms as well. Significance and Objectives: Spider silk is known for its remarkable physical, chemical, and mechanical properties and its biocompatibility, making it a promising material for wound healing. By combining it with frankincense essential oil—known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties—we can enhance the healing process and create an ideal environment for tissue repair.
